Superb GAR Reunion badge for the 33rd National Encampment held in Philadelphia in the year 1899. This one does not appear that it was ever worn and is retained in the original box. The top bar has a relief of Faneuil Hall with a scroll above it that reads “PHILADELPHIA” and one below that reads “MEMBER.”. Suspended from the bar is a red, white and blue ribbon approx. 2.00 x 1.25. Also suspended from the top bar is a white metal Liberty Bell. The bottom drop consists of a bar with a red, white and blue “GAR” in a wreath flanked by “SEPT. 1899.” At the very bottom is shield with the seal for the city of Philadelphia surmounted by a spread-winged eagle superimposed over crossed enamel colored US and Pennsylvania state flags and the words “33RD NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT.”.
