Grouping of 3 tintype’s of Federal officers mounted on card stock. These have all been identified as members of the 43rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. The first view is Captain Carl Arosenius, followed by 1st lieutenant Henry Strassinger and lastly 1st lieutenant Daniel Anderson. Identified views of the 3 man are currently housed in the collection of the Old Statehouse Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas. Captain Arosenius is seen here wearing his spectacles. Arosenius would first muster with the 59th Illinois Volunteer Infantry as a corporal in July, 1861 before being discharged for a promotion to captain with the 43rd in November, 1862. Henry Strassinger would muster as a 2nd lieutenant with Company B in December, 1861 before receiving a promotion to 1st lieutenant in February, 1864. Anderson would also muster as a 2nd lieutenant, receiving a promotion to 1st lieutenant in April, 1864. He would however resign that November. The regiment would see fighting at both Shiloh and Vicksburg. Comparison views are shown here for identification purposes. These were at one time most certainly all housed in the same album.
