Alexander Parks 49th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Tintype and Discharge

Item No. HA38654 Category

Nice little grouping pertaining to Alexander Sparks of the 49th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Sparks would muster with the 49th at Indianapolis as a substitute in mid August, 1864. October of that year would see him left behind in Lexington, Kentucky after he fell ill and was left behind as the regiment moved on to West Virginia. He would rejoin the regiment in January, 1865 and remain present for duty for the remainder of his term until discharged in September, 1865. Included in the group is a sixth plate tintype of Alexander dressed in a state issue jacket and armed with his musket and a full set of accouterments. Accompanying this view is his original discharge dated September, 1865. These do come with a full set of his service records and some genealogical research. The image itself is housed in a full leatherette case.
