Nice grouping of items pertaining to Alexander Pratt of the 123rd New York Volunteer Infantry. Pratt would muster with Company H of the 123rd at Salem, New York in September, 1862. He would spend a short stint sick in the hospital during the first two months of 1863 but would present with the regiment until January, 1865 when he was on detached duty as provost guard with the 1st Division, 20th Corps. His final discharge would come in June, 1865. The 123rd would see significant action during their service beginning with Chancellorsville. At Gettysburg they would be along the left of the line near Little Round Top on July, 2nd. The following day they would help  in repelling Pickett’s Charge. Following Gettysburg they would transfer to the Army of the Cumberland and participate in the Atlanta Campaign and March to the Sea. Included in the group is a sixth plate tintype of Pratt dressed in his infantry frock with a M1858 Hardee hat resting in his lap. A holstered revolver can be seen resting on his hip. Housed in a full leatherette case with a split spine. His original discharge is also included. A large portion of this group pertains to the regiments action at Gettysburg. There are 12 Gettysburg related postcards, a letter dated June 26, 1893 for travel to Gettysburg to attend New York Day and the accompanying broadsheet for that occasion which he attended. A number of Pratt’s GAR medals are included along with several of his Gettysburg medals. Several pension documents, his application for GAR membership and several GAR related materials all accompany this view along with a post war albumen of Pratt. Complete service records are also included. Super nice grouping.
