This is a beautiful filler carte view for a cdv album. These were part of a larger series of views which I believe consisted of 15 or 16 total views in the series. Their purpose was to fill empty sleeves in your cdv album. This one is titled “Attack On Sumter“. This view depicts Federal troops as they fire on Fort Sumter which was now held by Confederate forces. Iron clads can be seen in the distance as they score a direct hit on the fort itself. Beautiful vibrant colors remaining. No back mark but these were done by J. H. Bufford of Boston. Beautiful view!
