Confederate Ambrotype in Battleshirt

Item No. HA9025DS Category

Outstanding sixth plate ambrotype of this early rebel soldier dressed in a splendid battle shirt. Reminiscent of some of the shirt’s worn by troops from both Virginia and Mississippi. I would suspect this shirt was originally light blue in color and trimmed in black. The shirt displays a large breast pocket and oddly, one of the straps on the shoulder is wider than the other. The butt of a pistol can just barely be seen sticking out from under his far arm. Housed in a rare and mint thermoplastic case with the gold inlay.
