Description
Sixth plate ambrotype in the octogen format. Seated pose of this unknown Federal cavalryman. Dressed in his cavalry service jacket with brass shoulder scales. A M1851 eagle waist belt is worn with the cap box seen worn on the belt. His cavalry saber rests in his lap. He also wears this unusual badge on the breast of his jacket which I am not familiar with. It appears to be some sort of 10th Legion badge coupled with an 11th Corps bade. Very unusual. This image does have a number of condition issues including a large swipe where the emulsion is missing. It appears to be glued in the case as well or at the very least incredibly snug as I cannot remove it so I left it alone rather than accidently breaking it. Housed in a half case.
