Description
Nice little ninth plate ruby ambrotype of a Federal cavalryman. Dressed in his service jacket and outfitted with the killer black felt slouch cap. Proudly displaying this massive and cumbersome Starr revolver for the camera across his chest. Living dangerously, he displays the revolver with the hammer cocked and his finger on the trigger. These were mainly used by Western Theater troops and this fellow certainly seems to fit the part. In all there were approximately 23,000 of these revolvers manufactured. Don’t see this revolver very often. Especially in this broad of a view. This one does have two scratches running vertically down the plate. Housed in a full leatherette case. Great image!
