Sixth plate tintype of a Federal infantryman armed with a seldom seen and rare, French M1858 Lefaucheux Navy Model 12mm pinfire revolver. Seated pose of this infantryman dressed in his frock and sporting a US waist belt. A unmistakable Lefaucheux revolver can be seen held in his hand. These revolvers were imported by both the North and South in large numbers during the war but we rarely see them show up in images. I would assume that this example most likely was a prop supplied by the photographer. Very nice view of this seldom seen revolver. Housed in full thermoplastic case.
