Carte view of a member of the 95th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry “Gosline’s Zouaves”. Studio pose of this unidentified veteran of the regiment. Dressed in the popular Zouave style jacket which the regiment was known for. There are several other known views of members from the 95th photographed in this studio as well. Believed to have been taken while many of the men were on furlough after re-enlisting in the service. This fellow wears the rank of sergeant and sports his veterans stripes on the forearm of the sleeve as well. The regiment would see extensive action during the war beginning in the spring of 1862 with the Siege of Yorktown. They would continue to fight up to  the summer of 1865 seeing action at such places as Gaine’s Mill, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Cold Harbor and a slew of others. 255 men who had enlisted with the regiment would never return home.
