Description
Nice, large size half plate ambrotype of an unidentified Federal captain. Seated pose dressed in his frock with his hand tucked into the flap of the coat. Captain’s shoulder boards are worn. He wears what appears to be a M1851 eagle waist belt and purple sash. Armed with a C.1840 eagle head militia sword. Unfortunately his identity has been lost to time. Minor surface abrasions and missing the preserver. Housed in a full leatherette case with a beautiful purple velvet pad.
