Item No. CL4844BC Categories , Tag

Crystal clear ninth plate daguerreotype by Marcus Aurelius Root of Philadelphia. Root would become one of the most respected daguerreotype artists in the United States and would photograph some of the biggest celebrities of the time period. This view dates to sometime during the mid 1850’s. An old script of paper found behind the image reads “Grandfather Irwin Richland Irwin”. Wonderful clarity to this view with absolutely no condition issues. I’m sure someone could track this individual down with a little research. Housed in a full leatherette case with Root’s credit and Philadelphia address on the facing velvet.
