Description
Non-excavated 1839 pattern US waist belt plate. These are referred to as the “baby” type plates. If you have never held one of these, they are referred to as “baby” due to their size of just over 2.5″ in length. This example has a beautiful patina to the face and is nearly flawless. A small amount of the gold gilt remains. The solder filled reverse has the attachment hooks in place and solidly attached. Maker marked by Pittman which is stamped into the lead back. These Pittman marked baby plates are hard to come by! Drop dead beautiful example in pristine condition.
