Nice little pre-war barrel canteen. Probably dating to around the mid 1800’s. Made of oak wood staves held in place with iron bands. This one is missing the very bottom and top iron band however. The staves are still pretty tight on this one despite missing two of the bands. Measures 8.5″ tall by 5″ wide. Still retains the original cork stopper and air vent as well as the orange paint. These are often referred to as brandy’s or whiskey cask’s which would have been carried on a wagon rather than on ones person. Still a pretty solid cask for being nearly 200 years old!
