Description
Wonderful reunion ribbon for the 124th New York Infantry, otherwise known as the famed “Orange Blossoms”. The name would be derived from the fact that the regiment was formed from men from Orange County, New York. The regiment would earn an admirable record. They would fight in nearly 35 engagements including Gettysburg where they would suffer their highest casualties of the war. Slugging it out in the Devil’s Den, they would lose 7 officers and 85 men of the 220 brought to the field. This ribbon dates to the 1905 reunion and features a scene of the 124th monument placed at Gettysburg in their honor. This brilliant orange ribbon measures 8″ x 2 3/4″. It does have a slight tear in the center running vertically but it does not detract. Beautiful ribbon from a hard fought Gettysburg unit!
