Rare Wounded Federal Soldier Tintype

Item No. HA80012 Category

Ninth plate tintype of a unidentified wounded Federal infantryman. Seated pose with his infantry frock loosely draped over his shoulders. His cap is worn with embroidered infantry insignia placed on the front with his regimental designation shown. It looks like either the numeral “30” or “50”. His arm is suspended from a linen sling. It looks as though he was suffering from a broken arm. You can see that the arm is rigid and splinted and then wrapped with linen badges to hold it in place. Don’t see these images of wounded soldier very often. In 20+ years I’ve only had a handful. This one comes housed in a full leatherette case. Great little image.
