Ninth plate ambrotype of a very young and ragged looking rebel soldier. Even so he strikes a regal pose. Dressed in this very well worn dark jacket which has seen better days. The jacket sports a small slash pocket on the breast as well as cloth shoulder tabs. Two chevron’s are visible on on the forearm of the jacket to indicate his rank as corporal. His long, unkempt hair suggests a summer of hard campaigning however this view appears to have been taken during the colder winter months. Perhaps while in winter camp. A large scarf is worn inside the jacket and under his vest for warmth and and giving him an almost bloated appearance as the buttons strain against the additional padding. Very unique image. Unfortunately he is not identified. It does come housed in a full leatherette case.
