Description

Really cool excavated Confederate relic. We have here the remains of a Confederate “Dog River” cavalry saber recovered near Midland, Tennessee on the former location of the 1st Alabama Cavalry camp. In March of 1863, General David Stanley’s Federal cavalry overran the camp and destroyed what remained after the 1st Alabama vacated the camp. This item was recovered over 30 years ago by David Thompson, who with Larry Hicklin, recovered a number of relics from this camp. Included in the brass pommel and handle, the basket and a section of the blade. This does come housed in a framed display frame.
