Description
Really neat quarter plate melainotype of this New York infantryman. He sits in a simple camp chair striking this very casual pose with legs crossed. His New York issue jacket is worn open with a thin stripe running down the trouser seam. Presumably taken in the colder months. Under the jacket is worn a knitted blouse which you can see extending down to his wrist after being exposed from the coat sleeve riding up the arm. He also sports a scarf which is worn loosely around the neck. A meerschaum pipe is clenched in his teeth while his cap is worn with brass infantry insignia pinned to the top. A simple white canvas back drop runs behind him. Most definitely taken during the lull of winter camp. This one is definitely full of character. Housed in a full leatherette case.
