Beautiful sixth plate, clear glass ambrotype of this stunning antebellum woman. This appears to be the work of Richmond photographer Charles Rees, although it is not signed. She wears this wonderful light blue dress trimmed in black velvet. No doubt from a wealthy Richmond family, she is adorned with numerous pieces of gold jewelry. The really neat aspect of this image, she holds in her hand the empty case which she has purchased for this very image! Just a stunning image. Light mat rubs but otherwise beautiful.
