This is a really neat souvenir piece and the first time I have come across one of these. From the 13th Annual Reunion of the Society of the Army of the Potomac which was held in Detroit in 1882. This piece consists of a small, stamped brass canteen measuring 4.5″ in diameter. It is die stamped on both the front and back “13th Annual Reunion Detroit 1882”. The really neat detail of this piece is, once you remove the brass cork stopper, it opens up and reveals the menu that the members were served. And let me tell you, these fellows ate like kings!! Chicken, filet mignon, lobster, soft shell crab, oysters, salmon, green turtle soup, mutton, wild pigeons, ribs and many more choices. All sorts of cakes, ice cream, fruits and everything one could imagine to tempt the pallet! Super cool item and I doubt you will fine another!
