Description
Wonderful carte view of this unidentified Confederate captain of artillery. Try as I might, I have not been able to identify this officer. Dressed in a grey, double breasted jacket, he wears captain’s rank which is visible on the collar. Two rows of large domed buttons run the front of the coat. They are not discernible enough to make an identification but I would suspect that they are Confederate eagle buttons. The cuffs are trimmed in red indicating his artillery service. This gentleman certainly has a unique look about him so hopefully somebody will be able to identify him. No back mark.
