Sixth plate ambrotype of a middle-aged infantryman. Photographed in very close proximity to the camera, this view offers a wonderful character study of this soldier. The clarity is exceptional. You can count every grey stubbly hair on his face. His age showing, greying hair is visible under his cap as he stares into the camera. The clarity and close proximity to the camera offers details not usually seen. The texture of the material from which the coat was made, his cap and the eagle buttons worn on the coat. All exceptionally clear and detailed. One little scratch over his face but otherwise a great image!
