Very nice Pattern M1864 cartridge box. Referred to as the “Pattern March 1864” cartridge box. This was the last pattern cartridge box to still retain the brass US box plate. Only a very slight amount of crazing to the leather on this example. The leather is still quite pliable. The exterior flap is near perfect! Maker’s mark in the lower left hand corner of the exterior flap and another on the backside of the box. Looks like possibly Metzger. Nice aged patina to the US plate. Closure tab is present and solid. Both tins are present. One of the roller buckles along the bottom of the box has become detached but it is included. Over all a very nice box!
