This is a super nice quarter plate tintype of a Federal infantryman. Photographed in the field in this makeshift studio. He stands on the bare ground with a pair of well worn brogans on his feet, dressed in a four button sack coat and sky blue military trousers. A US waist belt is worn with his cap box and bayonet housed in the scabbard. A musket is held at his side with the bayonet attached so presumably the musket was provided by the photographer. You don’t need two bayonets for one musket. He also has a revolver tucked into his belt as well. This is the “Fort on the Hill” back drop which you can see behind him off to the right side. A Federal camp scene is shown below the fort. Really a nice looking image. This one comes housed in a half leatherette case.
