This is a beautiful quarter plate tintype of a Federal infantryman posed with his sweetheart. Dressed in his infantry frock, he wears corporals chevrons on the sleeve as well as a trio of service stripes on the forearm. Considering he looks quite young here, it can only be assumed that he enlisted at a very early age to earn that many service stripes by the time he sat for this image. He sits with his arm around his young sweetheart or possibly wife. Both wear a ring on the pointer finger so they may have been married. Subtle tinting to this one with both his trousers and bodice of her dress tinted a soft shade of blue. The skirt of her dress tinted in a shade of red. Wonderful image housed in a full leatherette case.
