Description
Sixth plate ruby ambrotype of this rebel cavalryman brandishing his heavy cavalry saber. Dressed in this very unique dark grey jacket with widely spaced buttons. The second button from the top bears the Virginia state seal. This jacket is unlike any I have ever seen. To the right and left of the mid section are these two enormous pockets which extend diagonally down from the armpit to the flap of the jacket. Each pocket is trimmed in black tape. His saber rests against his shoulder with this clearly apparent Confederate manufacture sword sling draped over his shoulder. An overlapped waist belt is worn with a US plate. He completes the uniform with this wonderful black felt slouch cap. Your typical hard as nails Confederate cavalryman. Some solarization around the outside edges. Housed in a half leatherette case.
