Description
Nice early war quarter plate melainotype of a Federal officer. Dressed in his frock and sporting a pair of gold bullion epaulettes. A M1851 eagle waist belt is worn over which his red sash is draped and hanging loose. Posed bearing an early militia sword across his mid section. This one has an old script of paper behind the image with a few words written in French. It appears to say “Capn Vincent”. There are just a few matches if that is in fact what the inscription is referring too. Housed in a full leatherette case with a split spine.
