Description
Post war veteran’s ladder badge from an unidentified members of the 32nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Company B. This example consists of three nickel plated suspension bars with a fourth bar at the bottom representing the 17th Corps which is colored blue for the 3rd Division. The top bar still has the pin attached on the reverse. The center of the top bar is stamped “CO. B”. Suspended by one chain link at each end is another bar similar to the one at top and is stamped “32 ILL” at center. The third bar is suspended like the one above it but is stamped “VOL. INF.” Serving in the Army of the Tennessee, the regiment would see action at Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg, the Meridian Campaign, Atlanta Campaign, Sherman’s March to the Sea and the Carolina’s Campaign. Very nice badge from a hard fought unit.
