Very nice G.A.R. reunion badge for the 3rd Michigan Cavalry. This example features a suspension bar with the words “THIRD MICHIGAN CAVALRY” from which a ilk ribbon hangs in the form of the US flag. Below hangs a celluloid featuring a profile view of a horse and the words “OUR FAITHFUL FRIEND STANDING AT ATTENTION”. A reference to the horses that carried the men through the conflict. The regiment would see action at Island No. 10, Corinth, Coffeeville, Franklin and Nashville.
