Description
Stereoview of the 6th New York Cavalry monument located at Gettysburg. This one is by prominent Gettysburg photographer William H. Tipton. The imposing 25-foot tall monument is located northwest of Gettysburg on Buford Avenue, about 400 yards south of Mummasburg Road. Dedicated on July 11, 1889, it features bronze reliefs by sculptor James E. Kelley and marks where the regiment fought dismounted under Brig. Gen. John Buford on July 1, 1863.
