Description
Very nice Albany Zouave Cadet’s Reunion Medal. The regiment was initially organized in 1860 and became “A” Company of the 10th New York Militia Regiment. It was later incorporated into the 177th New York Volunteers for a period of 9 months. They would be primarily engaged during the Siege of Port Hudson. Following their discharge, the remaining veterans formed a veteran’s organization which held summer encampments and other event’s featuring military pageantry. This example is from the 25th Anniversary held in Albany, New York on June 7, 1885. Accompanying this badge is a second pin featuring the Albany Zouaves emblem which appears to be cast pewter. Nice little pair of reunion pieces from the Albany Zouaves!
