Description
Beautiful silver id shield belonging to Private Andrew Pingry of the 131st Ohio Infantry. Alexander would mustered in on May 2, 1864 at Camp Chase, Ohio and mustered out on Aug. 25, 1864. The regiment served for 100 days and was assigned to garrison duty in Baltimore at Ft. McHenry, Fort Marshall and Federal Hill. It was originally designated the Ohio National Guard, 2nd and 12th regiment, from Montgomery County, Ohio. This custom badge is inscribed across the front, “A. W. Pingry Co. F. Ohio Ntl. Gd’s”. In the center reads, “131st” with a rope border which encircles the entire badge. The one does have the original T-bar pin on the reverse. Measure 1″ in diameter. Beautiful badge!
