Description
Gorgeous sixth plate ambrotype of a member of an unknown Zouave unit. Dressed in a dark blue Zouave pattern jacket with light blue tombeau present on the front of the jacket. Matching blue trousers are worn with a dark blue vest which is trimmed in white. Surprisingly, he wears a grey cap, which I would presume was not the first choice to accompany this uniform. His belt plate is for the most part obscured by the jacket but it appears to be a SNY plate which may help to shed some light on this units identity. Housed in a full case. Beautiful image!
