Quarter plate tintype of a pair of veteran Federal cavalryman. The two men are photographed here at Benton Barracks in front of one of the elaborate back drop of photographer Enoch Long. One of several back drops used by the photographer, this is the Missouri map back drop which can be seen hanging off the table inside the tent. Very well composed photograph. Unfortunately the brass insignia present on the caps is indistinguishable making a determination of their regiment designation impossible. Beautiful image housed in a full leatherette case with a split spine.
