Signed carte view of Captain Richard Halstead of Yonkers, New York. This is a bust portrait Richard. Halstead would be commissioned major of the 40th New York Infantry in July, 1861 but would be dismissed the following May. That December, Halstead would be commissioned captain of “F” Company, 42nd New York Infantry. In April of 1863, he would be discharged for a promotion to aide-de-camp. Richard would serve until July, 1866 with brevets to major and lieutenant colonel. This one is signed on the reverse by Halstead in period ink. Back marked out of New York.
