Description

Handmade cover addressed to Lucius McClesky of the Georgia 3rd Battalion State Guard Cavalry. Constructed of plain brown paper. Lucius would muster as a corporal at Watkinsville, Georgia on August 4th, 1863. He would serve a 6 month term in Captain John C. Turners cavalry company. Lucius would be present for duty until his discharge at the end of January, 1864. This example is addressed on the front in ink “Lucius L McClesky Comp F. ???? Regt. Atlanta, GA”. Affixed to the envelope is a 1863-64 10 cent Confederate stamp. Overall very nice condition.
