Description
Outstanding sixth plate ruby ambrotype of an unidentified Confederate soldier. This young rebel is dressed in a Richmond Depot Type II jacket. The example he wears here is outfitted with a row of 9 wooden Gibson contract buttons. The Gibson brothers would produce millions of buttons for the Confederacy for all manners of things, but they most often seen worn on these Richmond Type II jackets. This image is accompanied by a southern manufactured paper mat with the light blue colored pencil border. Wonderful image with great clarity. Housed in a half leatherette case.
