Description
Wonderful Confederate tin drum canteen. This example features a convex face with the reverse side completely flat. Measuring 6.25″ in diameter and 1.75″ in thickness. It does still retain a portion of the leather sling which wraps around the circumference of the canteen. There is a good sized push on the convex side of the canteen as you can see which is certainly not uncommon for a canteen that saw use. The spout remains solidly in place but it is missing the stopper. This one surfaced in Mississippi many years ago. On the convex face of the canteen is inscribed the name, “Roach”. It is however extremely faint and very difficult to see without a good light and magnification. Nice, aged patina covering the the entire surface. Nice example of a genuine reb canteen!
