Description
Very nice sixth plate, ruby ambrotype of an early war Illinois volunteer. Dressed in his grey, state issued Illinois jacket which featured untrimmed cloth shoulder tabs, an exterior breast pocket and rounded front. Nearly identical to the New York jacket. His cartridge box is worn as well as a US waist belt with both plates clearly evident. A small Sheffield knife is tucked into his belt while his musket is held at his side. Some abrasions to the surface but a very nice Illinois image. Housed in a full leatherette case.
