Description
Nice little war date brass stencil belonging to private Edward B. Foot of the 126th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Edward would muster with Company H in May of 1864. The regiment would muster for 100 days and immediately leave for Washington following it’s completion. There they would be assigned to garrison duty at Forts Ellsworth, Williams and in the northern defenses of Washington, D.C. until August and later participated in the repulse of Early’s attack on Washington in mid July. Edward would be discharged at the end of August, 1864. This example is one of the smaller stencil’s measuring 1.75″ x 1″. The face of the stencil is still covered in black paint showing he actually used this one.
