Description
Sixth plate melainotype of a Federal 1st sergeant. This is a vignette portrait of the young NCO. Dressed in a state issue jacket which appears to be from Ohio with 1st sergeants rank visible on the sleeve. He holds a M1840 saber in his hand while a McDowell pattern cap rests on the table beside him. This vignette portrait was specifically done to fit this seldom seen patriotic mat. This one is dark as melainotypes generally are. Housed in a full leatherette case with a split spine.
