Description
Sixth plate tintype of a Federal artilleryman. Nice pose of this gunner dressed in his artillery service jacket. The trim of the jacket shows very slight hints of red tinting, while his trousers have been tinted a beautiful shade of blue. He sports this wonderful felt cap while his M1851 eagle belt plate glistens under the shadow of his jacket. Behind the soldier is this camp themed back drop featuring numerous tents and a military fort. This one did come out of an album which belonged to a “Libbie Mardham”, and consisted of several dozen New Jersey carte views. It was slightly trimmed along the sides in order for it to fit in the album. It was later removed from the album and placed in a full leatherette case. Nice looking image regardless.
