Exceptional outdoor view of a large and eloquent two story southern home. A man and woman can be seen standing on the lower porch with the male subject holding a small child. Two Federal officers on horseback are seen in the foreground next to a Sycamore tree, engaged in conversation with the couple on the porch. I am not aware of where this image was taken, but I would imagine a good possibility would be Vicksburg. Interestingly, this view has been applied to the reverse side of a litho view of George N. Hollins who would serve as a commodore in the Confederate Navy. So possibly there is some association between the two. Regardless a interesting view.
