Description
Superb sixth plate tintype of this well armed Federal artilleryman. Wonderful portrait of this gunner dressed in his artillery service jacket trimmed in red and sporting brass shoulder scales. Casually posed, he rests his hands on the pommel of his M1860 saber which he has drawn and placed in front of the body. His empty scabbard can be seen on the hip while armed with a Colt Navy revolver which he has tucked into his belt. The detail and clarity of that Colt is exceptional! He stands posed in front of the “Fredericksburg” back drop which is believed to have been in use during the early and mid summer months of 1862. Housed in a half leatherette case. Beautiful and flawless image!
