Description

Very nice profile view of Lieutenant Colonel Charles Emerson Fuller of Boston, Massachusetts. Charles would be commissioned a captain in the US Volunteers Quartermasters Department in early August of 1861. He would receive a promotion to assistant quartermaster at the time of his commission in August. His promotion to lieutenant colonel and quartermaster would come in February, 1864. He would however resign his commission in November of that year. A similar view of Charles can be found on the HDS. The reverse of this carte has a period pencil inscription on the reverse reading “Charles Fuller”. There is an additional inscription written in pencil that I cannot read other than the words “Napels, NY”. This is incorrectly identified on the reverse as Charles Fuller of the 14th Brooklyn which is not the case. This one is stamped on the front by Williamson of Brooklyn.
