Bust portrait carte view of lieutenant James M. Bradly of the 4th United States Colored Troops. James would be commissioned a lieutenant with “C” Company in October, 1863. The regiment would see action in both Virginia and North Carolina, taking part in the Richmond-Petersburg Campaign, the capture of Fort Fisher and Wilmington, North Carolina, as well as taking part in the Carolina’s Campaign. Bradley would receive a brevet to major in March, 1865 and would serve until being discharged in May of 1866. The view bears a very bold period ink signature on the reverse reading “J. M. Bradley”. Very nice back mark out of New Bern, North Carolina.
