Description

Four war date, patriotic themed envelopes. These are all in unused condition. The first is titled “A Pair of Spectacles” which depicts Jefferson Davis being led into Washington in chains and then hanging from the gallows. The second depicts a caricature of Confederate Vice President Andrew Stephens with the third depicting the capture of Jefferson Davis with the head of a mule. The last directed at Britain and their support of the Confederacy over their need for cotton. These all appear to have been published from the same source with similar depictions shown in blue ink. All four in are in very good condition with no tears or paper loss.
