Description

Two page letter written by a New Hampshire soldier from Boston. This one is dated June 8th, 1865. The letter is addressed to his mother, sister and “all the folks”. The last name of the soldier is “Garland” and looks like the initials of possibly “A. L.”. I have not been able to identify him. He basically writes to let the family know he has arrived in Boston and will be mustered out within the week. Discusses meeting with some family and friends since his arrival and his interest in traveling to visit his mother once he is discharged if she will have room for him. This does come with the original cover addressed to a Miss Estella Garland of North Hampton, New Hampshire.
