Description
Very nice soldier’s combination utensil mess set. This one was made and marked by the New York Knife Company of Walden, NY. These were very popular among troops. The knife could be used separately, for other purposes if need be. The fork and spoon are on the same section for alternate use. Overall condition is good. The metal has some light surface rust which could easily be removed if you so chose. No deep pitting or edge nicks. The spoon is an alloy, necessary because the technology for forming bowls of harder metal was not fully developed. These were made by a number of companies. Salesmen touted their convenience, ease of carry, and lesser chance of losing an implement in the depths of a haversack. Nice example.
